Commissions
This year (2021) I have completed a series of commissions for the 'quietnote' meditation website. The animations are designed to loop and accompany meditation music (please note the examples below are without music as quiet note is a subscription based website). I tried to create relaxing scenes which could seamlessly loop, and also experimented with new stop frame animation techniques. For example, I positioned fairy lights below clear hair gel to produce the light reflection patterns and I also learnt how to morph between shapes using After Effects to create convincing drifting clouds.
In March I was commissioned by the Cherry Stone Duo to produce an art piece in response to one of their compositions, 'Suite Magica: II. Vals.'. I decided on the themes of image reflection, light and water to work with. Lots of inspiration was taken from my surroundings on the Devon coast as I compiled footage of boats on the sea, ink in water and the flame of a candle. I then tried to arrange and manipulate the clips to best suit the track, working in some long exposure photography in parts where the music quickens in pace. I was thrilled with the response from the Cherry Stone Duo.
'The CATS Campaign charity film - Ovarian cancer' - This commission was to create a 3D animated charity film to raise teenage awareness of the symptoms of this rare cancer. I fulfilled the role of art director in this group project, with responsibility for ensuring the assets adhered to the briefing and complied with the company branding. I converted the 2D cat logo into 3D, utilising the stipulated colour pallet and was responsible for modelling the plants, table and trellis. I also animated the cat (from 00:24 - 00:37 and 00:44 - 00:48) and the girl (from 00:38 - 0:47).
